Penny Lane Collection Returns to Cotton Tale Designs! February 11 2014, 0 Comments

Let’s take a stroll down Penny Lane! Named after the popular song “Penny Lane,” by the Beatles, this pattern naturally has a very retro, 70’s feel to it, which is not something you typically find in other crib bedding sets. Penny Lane is perhaps Cotton Tale Designs’ most unique pattern, giving a new spin to the “flower power” motif, giving it a vintage look. It is definitely a sophisticated pattern.

The defining features of Penny Lane lie within the color selection. With a unique, repeating blend of blue, turquoise, maroon, brown, and gold, this pattern looks good on virtually any wood finish. A quality like that is unheard of in the baby bedding industry.

In addition to its distinctive pallet, Penny Lane features detailed fabrics, detailed with lots of appliqué and embroidery. The pattern also uses the “ruching” technique, which entails gathering fabrics to create a layered, three-dimensional design. The technique was made popular in the 1850s, used by seamstresses to make floral appliqué for quilts. The result is a pattern with a more hand-made look, giving evidence to a thoughtful creation process.

The combination of flowers and butterflies is one of our favorites. It’s perfect for any mother wanting to give their child’s nursery a garden, floral, or spring-time theme.

Penny Lane will be returning soon and available for purchase with all of your other favorite Cotton Tale Designs crib bedding collections!
